|
| For the past 23 years, Reflections has been an all-girls show choir
composed of students that are very diverse; from theater students, to
band students, art students, to cheerleaders. Reflections is a group
based on excellence-every year earning a high standing rating at local
competitions and displaying a unexplainable passion in every
performance. The students have stolen hearts year after year with their
original shows & an attitude that "it's not just for a trophy, but to
have fun & share our love of music." That has always been a number one
goal for Reflections, along with every other chorus ensemble at Bird.
Reflections has performed in Tennessee, Florida, New York, West
Virginia, & Ohio- winning grand champs in VA in 2009 at the Hanover
Competition. This group has won many honors in the previous years, but
never failed to send the message that music can change a life, music can
unite us all in such hard times. For all 23 years the choral program has
been under the direction of Margaret Gregory, choreography by Jennifer
Loterzo, show choir band directed under Nancy Millhouse. |
| Group performed : Lullaby of Broadway, Popular from Wicked, Soon
it's gonna rain from The Fantasticks, 42nd Street, & You can't stop the
Beat from Hairspray |

| March 1st this past year the entire program was at a loss. They had
lost their beloved choral director, Margaret Gregory, due to
complications after a surgery. She died the very morning she was
supposed to be returning from leave. The students had a competition THAT
Friday at Manchester High School. Though encouraged to pull themselves
out of the competition, the students insisted on still competing in
honor of Mrs. Gregory, knowing her funeral was, in fact, earlier that
day. As a favor of the husband the students were asked to sing at her
funeral. With courage, the students stepped up to the plate and prepared
the song "For Good" from the Broadway musical WICKED to sing that Friday
morning. That morning, the students displayed a strength that most high
school students wouldn't have been able to handle. They performed
beautifully and pulled it together for later that night; the Manchester
Competition. That night they earned a superior and received the "Best
Showmanship" award. To perform the NIGHT of the funeral required more
strength then usually expected of high school students. Margaret Gregory
is still in every one of the students today; always will be. |
